Exciting news for all Harry Potter fans this week, as it was announced that JK Rowling herself is going to be writing a screenplay for her companion novel Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Warner Brothers first pitched the idea to her about a movie, and she couldn’t imagine someone else doing it, so she’s decided to try something new and write her own screenplay.
Excitingly this could be the first of a series, possibly including Quidditch through the Ages, and who knows maybe Tales from Beedle the Bard, or even Hogwarts: A History could be made in the future (though that is all speculation so far).
We know that the story will start in New York City following Newt Scamander, around 70 years before Harry’s story, so there’s lots to look forward to. We may even get to see some of our old friends, like a youthful Dumbledore. And just imagine seeing some more of the various creatures that JK has imagined, it would be a dream come true for Hagrid!
No word yet on when it will come out, but should be very exciting!
